Frequently Asked Questions
Who can benefit from Sports Massage?
Sports massage treatment is predominantly aimed at those who are aching after an intensive bout of sport, but massage is suitable for everyone – not just those who participate in sporting activities!
Whether you have been carrying a heavy bag whilst away on a business trip, have slept in a different bed whilst on a short break or carry out repetitive movements at work: massage can significantly improve, not only sports, but posture-related pain. It can also significantly improve your sleep cycle and quality of life.
If, however, your symptoms have been there for longer than you care to admit and you’re feeling more pain than just aches but can’t connect them a specific activity or event – the chances are you need a physiotherapy appointment!
If in doubt, call or email us for guidance.

Will I experience any pain throughout the treatment?
A sports massage aims to reduce discomfort, not create pain. Some of the deep pressure and trigger point techniques used during a sports massage can sometimes feel uncomfortable but it should not be painful. As soon as the therapist begins your massage they will ask you if the pressure is ok. If you feel any pain during treatment please ensure you make your therapist aware so that they can alter the pressure accordingly.
What can I expect during a sports massage treatment?
The first session will consist of an assessment which includes history taking, a range of movement analysis and a visual/manual examination of the painful area before treatment begins.
